.0 BABB JUNCTION Junction of Many Glacier Road with Blackfeet Highway.

1.3 ST. MARY RIVER Flows through the South Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Rivers, Lake Winnipeg and the Nelson River into Hudson Bay.

1.9 R LOWER ST. MARY LAKE

R MT. MERRITT (9944) AND OLD SUN GLACIER The glacier was named for Old Sun, one of the ancient Blackfeet medicine men. This is largest glacier visible from Blackfeet Highway.

5.2 R THUNDERBIRD ISLAND The Indians believed that thunder was made by a large partridge-like bird flapping its wings.

5.3 R DOG'S HEAD ON FLATTOP MOUNTAIN (8340) The eastern end of Flattop Mountain forms the profile of a St. Bernard dog.

5.6 R PROFILE ON SINGLESHOT MOUNTAIN (7700) Singleshot Mountain from this point forms a gigantic profile of Napi, or Old Man, looking into the sky. Named Singleshot because in 1885 George Bird Grinnell killed a mountain sheep on this mountain with a single shot.

8.8 ST. MARY JUNCTION (4475) Junction of Going-to-the-Sun Highway with Blackfeet Highway.
