.0 ST. MARY JUNCTION. Junction of Going-to-the-Sun Highway with Blackfeet Highway.

1.3 L LOWER ST. MARY LAKE (4460)

3.3 L SINGLESHOT MOUNTAIN (7700). Singleshot Mountain from this point forms a gigantic profile of Napi, or Old Man, looking into the sky. Named Singleshot in 1885 because George Bird Grinnell killed a mountain sheep on this mountain with a single shot.

3.6 L DOG'S HEAD. The eastern end of Flattop Mountain forms the profile of a St. Bernard dog.

3.7 L THUNDERBIRD ISLAND. The Indians believed that thunder was made by a large partridge-like bird flapping its wings.

4.3 A FIRST GOOD VIEW OF CHIEF MOUNTAIN (9056). Indian name: "Chief of the Mountains".

5.7 A YELLOW MOUNTAIN (8800)

7.0 L MT. MERRITT (9944) AND OLD SUN GLACIER. The glacier was named for Old Sun, one of the ancient Blackfeet men. This is largest glacier visible from Blackfeet Highway.

7.6 ST. MARY RIVER. Flows through the South Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Rivers, Lake Winnipeg, and the Nelson River into Hudson Bay.

8.9 BABB JUNCTION. Junction of Many Glacier Road with Blackfeet Highway.
